On this 7th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America. We pause to reflect on that horrible day and remember it’s victims.


video: The September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on America causes the Toronto International Film Festival to hold a special press conference and cancel all screenings and events for the day. The festival would eventually resume screenings - but the 2001 edition of TIFF was effectively ended early.

A Classic TIFF 2006 Flashback, Sean Penn leaves the Sutton Place hotel after his press conference for Into the Wild. This was the infamous TIFF press conference when Penn casually lit up a smoke (indoor smoking in public places being against the law here in Canada). Seems the Sutton Place Hotel and TIFF both learned something from the incident - as actors this year are stepping outside for that smoke.

We couldn’t help but think back a few years when word dropped that U2’s The Edge would be at TIFF ‘08 in support of the musical doc ‘It Might Get Loud’ directed by David Guggenheim (also with Jimmy Page and Jack White.), During TIFF ‘05 his bandmate Bono was making stops all over the Toronto Film Festval including the Leonard Cohen documentary “I’m your man.”
