REX Reed - New York Observer film critic goes off against the Toronto Film Festival, its fans and celebrity gawkers

Rex Reed Toronto 2008 premiere party
Something seems to have left a bitter taste in the mouth of NY film critic REX REED. He goes off in a recent piece in the New York Observer. Ironic, REX seemed thrilled to be in Toronto when ShoVine cameras caught him coming out of the Anne Hathaway starring Rachel Getting Married afterparty. He seemed to love that some fans even wanted his autograph. Rex baby… what happened?

“Hotel room rates have tripled from what they are the rest of the year; Canadian suburbanites in convertibles cruise the streets looking for celebrities; loitering American tourists in knockoff sunglasses block the entrances and exits to every screening; and teenage gawkers litter the sidewalks hoping for a glimpse of Brad Pitt. But it’s hard to spot the major players with any kind of legitimate reason for being there, and the real stars sneak in and out of back doors, surrounded by bodyguards. But still they come.”
- REX REED, NY Observer (Sept-08)

ANNE Hathaway - more TIFF ‘08 Rachel Getting Married premiere photos on ShoVine - just because we love her

The buzz continues regarding Anne Hathaway’s performance in the recently premiered Rachel Getting Married at Toronto. We wanted to feature more great OFF the red carpet photography - which we believe is usually better than the accredited stuff - and Christian proves our point. Christian has been getting a great spot at most Toronto Film Festival galas and firing some really beautiful frames. You can check out more of Christians TIFF photography at his flickr stream.

Rachel Getting Married oscar buzz actress ANNE Hathaway photos - sometimes the security just gets in the way

Anne Hathaway 2008 TIFF
Sometime over-zealous security can killl a photo opportunity. Like when the beautiful and talented Ms. Anne Hathaway exited her Brant House afterparty for her TIFF ‘08 Premiere - Rachel Getting Married. But I guess nobody ever said Toronto’s Brant House employed brilliant people.

No worries. Our good shooting friend, TODD - certainly one of Canada’s best celebrity photographers - has been posting some very nice TIFF ‘08 photos over at CanadianTabloid.com
He graciously lent us this OFF the red carpet killer shot he got of Ms. Hathaway for you ShoVine.com readers to enjoy. We wonder who she might be talking too?
